When the moisturizer creams are discontinued at day 10-14 you will begin applying a skin bleaching agent Hydroquinone ; . This product is used to keep the skin a uniform color and may be in either a liquid or cream form. Start applying the Hydroquinone twice a day to the entire area that was treated, being careful not to get it into your eyes. This product needs to be used for at least 2 months. If you develop a rash or have a problem with this product, stop using it and notify Dr. Sorokin. Please test a small area on your forehead to see if your skin is sensitive to his product. Your skin should be healed 7-10 days after the procedure. For the first 6-8 weeks following laserbrasion, your skin will be red and gradually fade to a light pink color. During this time you may begin applying hypoallergenic cosmetics. You can apply a green cover-up make-up followed by a base makeup to camouflage redness. Most patients return to work or activities 10-14 days after the procedure without any difficulty. Your skin will be fresher and smoother at this time. It is also more susceptible to the sun's damaging rays and very prone to sunburn. Please apply sun block SPF 15 with both UVA and UVB protection every morning and then as needed throughout the day, even on cloudy days. This must be done for 6 months AT LEAST. Dr. Sorokin recommends that you keep using sunscreen every day for a year. Direct sunlight should be avoided for at least 12 months. Wear wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses as well as sunscreen. Do not smoke for at least 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after your surgery as it may slow healing and increase complications. You may resume using Retin-A in 6 weeks. If you have nausea, vomiting, rash, shortness of breath, or diarrhea after taking your medications, please contact your Dr. Sorokin. If you develop a fever oral temperature greater than 101 degrees ; , redness, or increased pain contact Dr. Sorokin. If you are having pain which is NOT relieved by the pain medication call Dr Sorokin at 856-7970202. Fisher's exact test was used at the same levels of significance. Neoplastic lesions were evaluated according to Peto et al 1980 ; using the test for positive trend with respect to dose rates. Findings [Dietary analysis: Analysis of the azinphos-methyl content of the diet indicated that the measured levels of 5.6, 15.3 and 47.0 ppm complied with the target levels of 5, 15 and 45 ppm. The azinphos-methyl content was homogenous within a tolerance of + 10% relative to the mean. The dietary content of azinphos-methyl was also stable for 10 days when a tolerance range of + 20% of the nominal concentration was taken into consideration.] General examinations: The average doses ingested at 5, 15 and 45 ppm were equal to 0.25, 0.75 and 2.33 mg kg bw d for males and 0.31, 0.96 and 3.11 mg kg bw d for females, respectively. Specific clinical signs were not observed, but animals particularly females ; receiving 45 ppm exhibited a higher incidence of alopecia than the controls [see Table below]. Mortality was unaffected by treatment at all dose levels [see Table below]. The feed consumption of females receiving 45 ppm was slightly increased about 10% ; , but there was no effect on the water consumption of any group. The body weights of males receiving 45 ppm were markedly lower [than the control; p 0.01] during the entire period of the study up to approximately 10% ; [see Table below]. [A Statistically significant decrease in body weight occurred at 5 and 15 ppm. The magnitude of this decrease was small and there was no strong dose-response relationship, and as such these findings were not to considered to be related to treatment. There was no treatment-related effect on the incidence or location of palpable masses.] Effect of dietary administration of azinphos-methyl over 2 years on mortality, body weight, food consumption and clinical signs in rats.

Apply moisturizer and sunscreen several times a day post procedure. Drink plenty of water daily. Avoid swimming in chlorinated water the day of treatment. Avoid tanning for at least one week after treatment. Avoid waxing, electrolysis and loofahs in the treated area for two weeks post treatment. Avoid exfoliating products such as salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acid glycolic acid ; and retinoic acids such as Retin-A ; for three weeks. Exercise extreme care when washing newly treated skin. Use only mild cleanser and never pick, scratch or peel the treated area. Doing so could result in scarring. Apply hydrocortisone lotion to treated area if experiencing itching, burning or sensation of mild sunburn or windburn. If the patient is having a treatment series, the next treatment appointment should be between 7 to 10 days. For maintenance treatments, the next treatment should be in 4 weeks and tretinoin. JUNE has not been a good month for Stephen Harper, the Canadian prime minister. At the G8 summit in Germany his record on foreign aid was singled out for special criticism by two Irish rock stars with planet-saving ambitions, Bono and Bob Geldof. His return to Canada was blighted by the loss of a Conservative MP, bounced from the party's caucus for opposing the budget, and by a confrontation caught on camera with an 80-year-old widow, who accused him of lying about extending veterans' benefits. The government's much-vaunted green plan was denounced as ineffectual by a prominent think-tank usually sympathetic to the Conservative cause. And as Parliament limped toward its summer recess this week, two angry premiers descended on Ottawa to castigate the prime minister for supposedly breaking his word to them on financial transfers to their provinces. It is a far cry from six months ago, when Mr Harper was riding high in the polls and appeared poised to call an election that would turn his governing Conservative minority into a majority. After one year in power, he had largely kept five narrow campaign promises and could convincingly argue the need for a new mandate. But the chance disappeared as public support for the Conservatives, which peaked after the launch of a generous budget in March, quickly dropped back into minority territory, where it remains. Such a litany of woes might be expected to worry a party that holds only 124 of the 308 seats in the House of Commons there are 100 Liberals, 49 Bloc Qubcois, 29 New Democrats, four independents and two vacant seats ; . Yet Mr Harper continues to exude confidence. There are two main reasons for this. One is that although the wheels appear to be coming off the Tory motor, which was only ever designed for a short race, the opposition parties are having trouble even starting their engines. The second is the insouciance of ordinary Canadians, who are benefiting from a strong economy and record low unemployment. There is really not a lot troubling the nation, says Darrell Bricker, a pollster; Canadians have never been more optimistic. This is not what the Liberals want to hear. They continue to hammer the government for its handling of Canada's military mission in Afghanistan, and its weak plan to clean up the environment. But they are hamstrung by their own record. It was a Liberal government that first sent troops to Afghanistan in 2002. They were also responsible for a much-criticised deal in which prisoners captured by Canadian forces were handed over to Afghan troops and then allegedly tortured. Their position is equally weak on the environmental front. Having signed the Kyoto protocol, they did little to meet its stringent targets for emissions reductions. Indeed, all three opposition leaders have problems. Stphane Dion, chosen by the Liberals last December, remains largely unknown outside his Quebec base. Gilles Duceppe of the Bloc Qubcois is and orlistat.

CCNU produced lung tumours in rats following its intraperitoneal or intravenous injection [ref: 2, 5]. When tested in mice by intraperitoneal injection, it induced a slight increase in the incidence of lymphomas. Tests in rats by oral administration could not be evaluated [ref: 2]. In one study by skin application to mice, no skin tumour was observed, but the duration of the experiment was inadequate [ref: 7]. Data on methyl-CCNU were included in a report in which a large number of cancer chemotherapeutic agents were tested for carcinogenicity by intraperitoneal injection in Sprague-Dawley and Swiss mice. In male rats injected with methyl-CCNU thrice weekly for six months, total tumour incidence was reported to be increased 1.5-2 fold over that in controls at 18 months. A slight increase in tumour incidence was reported in mice [ref: 8]. Intravenous administration of methyl CCNU to rats induced lung tumours [ref: 5]. C. Other relevant data BCNU, CCNU and Me-CCNU are directly-acting, bifunctional alkylating agents [ref: 9]. No data were available on the genetic and related effects of BCNU and Me-CCNU in humans. An increased frequency of sister chromatid exchanges was observed in a single study of peripheral blood lymphocytes of patients treated with CCNU. BCNU induced chromosomal aberrations, micronuclei and sister chromatid exchanges in cells of mice treated in vivo, DNA damage in human cells in vitro, and aneuploidy, chromosomal aberrations, sister chromatid exchanges, mutation and DNA damage in rodent cells in vitro. It induced sex-linked recessive lethal mutations in Drosophila and gene conversion in yeast. It was mutagenic and caused DNA damage in bacteria [ref: 9]. CCNU induced dominant lethal mutations in rats and DNA damage in cells of mice and rats treated in vivo. It induced DNA damage in human and rodent cells in vitro and sister chromatid exchanges and mutation in cultured Chinese hamster cells. It induced mutation and DNA damage in bacteria [ref: 9]. Content with what he has been enjoying, --all these come under the group of haughty persons. Of these, he who clings to a particular faction shall be so deluded by spies with shaved head or braided hair as to believe that he is intriguing with that party. Partisans under provocation, for example, may be won over by telling that `just as an elephant in rut and mounted over by a driver under intoxication tramples under its foot whatever it comes across, so this king, dispossessed of the eye of science, blindly attempts to oppress both citizens and country people; it is possible to restrain him by setting up a rival elephant against him; so have forbearance enough to wait ; .' Likewise alarmed persons may be won over by telling that `just as a hidden snake bites and emits poison over whatever alarms it, so this king apprehensive of danger from thee will ere long emit the poison of his resentment on thee; so thou mayest better go elsewhere.' Similarly ambitious persons may be won over by telling that `just as a cow reared by dog-keepers gives milk to dogs, but not to Brhmans, so this king gives milk rewards ; to those who are devoid of valour, foresight, eloquence and bravery, but not to those who are possessed of noble character; so the other king who is possessed of power to discriminate men from men may be courted.' In like manner haughty persons may be won over by telling that `just as a reservoir of water belonging to Chndlas is serviceable only to Chndlas, but not to others, so this king of low-birth confers his patronage only on low-born people, but not on Aryas like thee; so the other king who is possessed of power to distinguish between men and men may be courted.' All these disaffected persons, when acquiescing to the above proposals, may be made under a solumn compact panakarman ; to form a combination together with the spies to achieve their end. Likewise friends of a foreign king may also be won over by means of persuation and rewards, while implacable enemies may be brought round by sowing dissensions, by threats, and by pointing out the defects of their master. Altered Cortical Pain Processing in Chronic Pain Patients L. VOSS and J. BARNARD Waikato Clinical School, University of Auckland, Hamilton, New Zealand Chronic pain is associated with neural plasticity at multiple levels in the nervous system. In this study we looked for evidence of altered cortical functioning through analysis of the EEG during repetitive sensory simulation of a finger. A group of patients with chronic pain was compared to a group of normal volunteers. The EEG of each subject was continuously recorded using a 28-channel montage. Brief repetitive at least 60 ; electric shocks were given via an electrode on the dominant index finger. Two intensities of electric shock were tailored to each subject, one that was easily felt but not painful and one that was moderately painful. The shocks were given in three sequences: 1 ; non-painful shocks, 2 ; painful shocks, 3 ; a random sequence of non-painful and painful shocks 4: 1 ratio ; . The raw EEG was cleaned and 0.5second post-stimulus epochs averaged for each sequence giving clear sensory evoked potentials SEPs ; . The SEPs were then analysed in greater detail. The most striking feature was the negative postive negative wave starting at approximately 200ms over the vertex. An increased amplitude was seen with painful stimuli versus non-painful stimuli. The wave was delayed by 20msec in the chronic pain patients versus the normal volunteers p 0.05 ; . In conclusion, detailed analysis of SEPs from multi-channel EEG demonstrates differences between the painful and non-painful stimuli and provides evidence of altered cortical processing in patients with chronic pain compared to normal volunteers. Even better results were obtained when the soy supplement was used with the National Cholesterol Education Program Diet, which emphasizes low fat, high fiber and complex carbohydrates. At St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto Metabolism & Clinical Experiments v. 48, 1999 ; men and women were given a low fat diet with added soy protein. Researchers found the soy supplement very much strengthened the effects of the low fat diet. In their words, "A combination of vegetable protein and soluble fiber significantly improved the lipid-lowering effect of a low saturated fat diet." At the University of Illinois American Journal of Clinical Nutrition v. 68 Supp, 1998 ; postmenopausal women were given soy isoflavones, which lowered their TC levels while raising their HDL levels and lowering their LDL levels. This was a very well done and professional study. In addition to improving blood lipid levels they found that some of the women increased their bone density and actually reversed some of the effects of osteoporosis. This is just one more way to avoid the many problems of menopause. A second study at the University of Illinois American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, v. 71, 2000 ; studied men of widely varying ages with hypercholesterolemia. They gave them soy supplements without any changes in diet or exercise. These men lowered their cholesterol levels significantly in only six weeks. A Japanese journal Daizu Tanakushitsu v. 13, 1992 ; published a series of articles on soy protein and blood lipids in men and women. These studies were done at Nagoya, Kyushu, Tokai, Tokushima University, and the National Defense Medical College. These studies used different diets and different conditions while giving soy supplements to varying subjects. At all five institutions the conclusions were basically in agreement that modest soy supplementation lowered cholesterol levels and improved the HDL LDL ratios significantly in a short period of time. At the Dunn Nutrition Center in England British Journal of Nutritrion v. 74, 1995 ; premenopausal women were studied in depth for a full nine months. Of course their cholesterol levels improved when they were fed soy supplements containing isoflavones, but they found other very positive benefits to their.
